Gaspard Maheburwa

Gaspard Maheburwa is a Burundian Investigative Journalist and is working for 18 years, using journalism to transform mentalities and empower youth and women organizations providing to their leaders techniques on how they can use journalism to develop their communities through workshops, seminars, strategic communication planning, behavior and social data analysis . Through Social and Online Media, Radio and Television, he is publishing and broadcasting information which is bringing a great impact to the community. Currently, he is working as an Investigative journalist as a Correspondent of the Associated Press and Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Umuzi News. He is now a part-time teacher in Journalism and Communication Department at University of Burundi and other local private universities as well. He has got several grants for journalists and attended several trainings, conferences and reports about journalism, information technology ,gender, law and development locally and internationally especially in Burundi,Rwanda, Mali, Kenya, The Netherlands , Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Somalia, the United Arab Emirates, China and Zambia . With an undergraduate degree in Social Communication, Gaspard Maheburwa also holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Chaire Unesco, University of Burundi. He is now a researcher, for his PhD studies, at University of Burundi in the area of Media and women empowerment.
