Chapitre 7: Peuples de la forêt tropicale
Les forêts tropicales humides ont longtemps hébergé des populations
autochtones dont les civilisations et cultures se sont formées en se basant
sur l'environnement dans lequel elles vivent. De remarquables civilisations
telles que les Mayas, Incas, et Aztèques développèrent des
sociétés complexes et apportèrent de formidables contributions à la science.
Vivant de la nature et n'ayant pas de
technologie leur permettant de dominer leur environnement, les indigènes
apprirent à observer leur environnement et à
comprendre les complexités de la forêt tropicale. De génération en
génération, ces peuples apprirent l'importance de vivre
avec leur environnement et en sont venus à compter sur les innombrables
bénéfice renouvelables que la forêt peut fournir.
